Take Incharge of Your Life – Own.Your.Life.

There are things inside you that you struggle fighting. There comes a time when all you have to do is breathe and find that piece of self-strength to stand back up. I have been there too. You’re not alone!- (read it here)

I’m pretty much introverted and very sensitive too, so it wasn’t easy. 🙈

Anyway,

Good morning and Happy Sunday! It seems like a good day to have a good day! (with a little bit of self-loving dose!) That is why I want to write this today! 🌸🌹🌻🦋🐯🥂⭐️🌞

These past two weeks felt like I was riding an emotional roller coaster! With coming back to writing after almost three and a half months to finally owning a place of mental peace, I can now say that I have survived like a tigress in these tough times. Lol.

Instead of jumping to the conclusion directly, I have articulated this piece just fine, to make it easy for you to read as well as use it as an example for self-development.

There really are only two ways to live. You can glide along and let things happen, reacting to whatever (and whoever) comes your way … good luck, bad luck, whatever the fates happen to serve up. OR you can choose to own your life by moving into the driver’s seat and intentionally directing the course of your journey.

Sounds inspiring, doesn’t it? Of course, if you happen to be like most people, and already up to your eyeballs with demanding relationships, commitments, fully entrenched habits, and a lifetime of emotional baggage, then the idea of suddenly stepping up to take responsibility for your life can also seem pretty scary, if not downright overwhelming.

Fortunately, it doesn’t have to be, but neither does the transformation happen by chance.

I lied and said I was busy. I was busy but not in a way most people understand. I was busy taking deeper breaths. I was busy silencing irrational thoughts. I was busy claiming a racing heart. I was busy telling myself that I am okay.

Sometimes this is my busy and I will not apologise for it.

– B. Oakman

This quotes my life right now.

As fore mentioned, I was in a fluctuating mode of thoughts in a pool of yes/no as to whether I should accept this publicly or not.

To be completely and stripping down to my soul honesty, my writing on Gratitude was indeed about myself. I was overwhelmed, a little shy and scared to come out with the truth. (as any normal human would be, right?)

You can read about Gratitude clicking here.

Now I know what it is like to be out there, with a complete soul and a full heart and put myself in the world as and how I truly am.

I accept all my shortcomings and mistakes and look forward to building a better world that I will strive to fight for, and live in harmony plus overall happiness.

I will Own.My.Life.

Hello to you my fellow reader, from my personal space reaching out to you!

I feel a little fortunate to have people around me, who will be there for me when time strikes.

I was inspired by this short read when I was going through some tough calling in my life. It was so powerful and true; to be happy is what the purpose of life is all about.

I decided,

Begin Today To Own Your Life, Dear Self!

It was because,

Taking full responsibility for where you are now, gives you the power to get where you want to go in the future.

Self-care is sometimes the last thing we think about when we’re busy and have a lot on the go. The truth is anyone and everyone should set aside time for themselves. One of the best ways to energize ourselves is to take a break from it all, to regroup and get our minds right. You have to find what works for you.

The hardest part of taking a break for me was admitting I *need* to take a break and I *deserve* to take a break. It’s a tale as old as time…..a classic. “I’m stressed because I study, and I study because I’m stressed” predicament. Whether it’s going for a walk, disconnecting from all media, sitting in silence in nature and letting yourself completely relax. Encourage yourself, support yourself and celebrate every little thing about yourself.

The art of being an introvert has yet to be mastered in my world – but I strive to keep that perfect level of quiet, solo contentment on a day-to-day basis. Life, in all its uncertainty, is wonderful. There is nothing lackluster about it. Strive to be the person your future self will thank you for being.

‘You were given this life because you’re strong enough to live it.’

– unknown.

Sometimes you have to remind yourself of the enormous capability you have to live, to thrive, to survive in this moment and the next. You were given this life. Own. Your. Life.

You are setting yourself up for your tomorrows today and if you think about it, you are living your life today that you have set up, all of your yesterdays. Does that make sense? I hope it does!

Go on and LOVE yourself. God bless! You are amazing just the way you are!

Here are some of my tips on letting go and owning your life – hope it helps you as much as it helped me –

  • Clear the Clutter

Make way for a new attitude on life. There is no question this can be a daunting task, which is why so many people allow things to accumulate over a lifetime rather than do the work to clear the clutter of past hurts, limiting beliefs and regrets. The problem is that in time this clutter weighs you down and prevents you from living the life you truly want and deserve. Sometimes, the ones we hold the most grudges against are ourselves (as was the case for me), for past mistakes and actions we deeply regret. You can’t live a happy life if at some subconscious level you don’t believe you deserve one.

  • Decide What Matters Most

Here is a very basic truth: Those who most often get what they want in life, take the time to know what they want. And especially, if you know what you want, more importantly, if you know what you deserve, you are gonna have to ask for it!

  • To Change Your Life, Change Your Attitude

Ah, this! I could call this the mother of all solutions! Your attitudes not only affect the quality of everything you do, they serve as filters that color your view of life and the world around you.

  • Embrace Accountability

One of the first and fastest ways to own your life is to take full responsibility for it. The fact remains that we do have control over our thoughts, attitudes, reactions, feelings, and beliefs. But think about this, because what it means is that you have the power to create the life you want since you are at the wheel! Good, right?

  • Manage Life Transitions One Step at a Time

Do not swallow directly! Chew and take your time to digest. It simply implies – To create sustainable change in your life it’s best to start with one area, and just focus on taking a small step … then another, and another.

  • Begin Living Your Truth

Finally! One of the most difficult tasks I went through. I will elaborate this one for you…

Now,

What does the phrase “live your truth” mean to you? Does it make you think of authenticity, honesty, integrity, living your values and walking your talk?

The challenge is that in our efforts to be accepted we often put tremendous pressure on ourselves to fit in … or at the very least to not standout in a way that makes us feel exposed or foolish; so we end up masking or manipulating our most vulnerable feelings, opinions, and desires in an effort to avoid judgment, discomfort or rejection. (another thing that I myself used).

What this means is that you’re going to have to muster the courage to dig down and uncover the real you behind your filters … and the truth is, sometimes we harbor a fear that we may not like what we find all that much.

It’s important to understand that learning to live your truth isn’t about changing or “fixing” you, it’s about freeing you to be the confident, powerful person you were meant to be, and honoring that truth through actions and communication with others as well as yourself.

Also, lastly, I say this for myself and all others like me –

Keep in mind that there is nothing magical or special that happens to people who have chosen to take charge of their lives. It wasn’t any easier for them than it will be for you. It’s just that at some point, they chose to commit to taking responsibility and do the work. They chose to risk and take action. And most importantly, they chose to be true to themselves rather than being defined by fate, circumstances, or the whims of others.

Thank you for reading. ❤

Take care of yourself and oh! Don’t forget to OWN YOUR LIFE ! 💃

Till next time…

xoxo

  1. Here’s an interesting fact captured as a comment. I enjoyed reading your post on responsibility and taking responsibility. In some ways, it reminds me of a completely opposite quote which I will share from an author named Richard Bach. You can find some of his stuff on goodreads if so inclined. On to the quote,

“The best way to avoid responsibility is to say, ‘I’ve got responsibilities.”

I bring this up because I have been a pretty responsible person and have driven my life trying to take accountability and own its proceeds, advances, and lacks. I reached a point in retiring from a career spent in IT where I decided to not take on any more responsibility. In fact, I have removed as much as I could from my shoulders because my sense was it was wearing me down and perhaps where once I stood tall and could shoulder all that, I’m old now and these shoulders are found wanting.

But, and there is always a but to things. To find yourself first often you must decide that that self you wish to find is still being built. One never gets done being built. You can start a sentence on a blog yesterday and then finish it a week later and see what changed. Perhaps nothing but as an archeologist friend of mine used to quote “there is nothing so constant as change”. Come back in a week and look at the sentence and see. I bet you have changed since the beginning of it. An idea has furthered, a plan backfired, a concept ignored.

I am made of frail material I fear and I have decided to take on no new responsibility. I have less accountability too. Perhaps that’s due to the passing of time and my recent retirement. My children are adults or they like to think of themselves such. I own nothing but what fits into a backpack. I sit in Japan for two weeks and will go to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, India. Wherever. I go with less. Abd perhaps that less is more.

    1. I’m young in age and experiences than you are Michael. I don’t know what my life holds neither do I know how it will turn out to be. Life has it’s own way of surprising us. You’re true and wise in imparting your words here. I actually got to learn something. But for me too, it’s taken more than a decade to achieve this mental stability and I somehow feel content after all this time. That is why this post may have come out a little too straightforward.

“To find yourself first often you must decide that self you wish to find is still being built.” So much truth. That is what makes me a little fearless in owning my life, and I have taken some serious efforts of recovery reaching this stage. I will grow and be better I know that.

Anyway, thank you so much for your words. It helped me. Wish you a healthy and happy week. Say hello to your family from my side. I hope your trip to “wherever” is just as fulfilling you want it to be.

  2. I loved this 😊❤️ So much truth in it. I’m an introvert too. I relate to all the things you’ve written about. You are on the right path for yourself. I’m happy for you. Life has taught me to listen to my heart. That’s always the best place to start. Take care 😊❤️

  3. Hi Aishwarya,

It’s really good to hear you, the way you have written today. It’s essentially matters a lot to care yourself and forget about the world around you. Sometimes we just feel fed up of everything, everyone in our life and mean while, a brake is a must to cherish yourself by writing something awesome like this. It gives immense peace of mind and energy to look forward! ❤

(I was also living in a traumatic situation since last 4 months, but words we put down on paper create a space to think yourself first!)

You have aligned your words so perfect! Have a best week ahead! 😊

    1. You’re right Vinayak. I’m glad you’re okay now and past those four months of misery. Keep writing and pouring your heart out on paper. Wish you all the best in your endeavors. Thank you!

  4. It all sounds really grown-up and easy but sometimes life takes it’s own direction and we are left to figure out which way the wind is blowing. You are young and you will see.

    1. I know I’m young and still have to figure out what my life holds; as life has it’s own way of giving surprises. But with all due respect, it’s taken me a really really long struggle and a difficult task recovering from what I went through. Maybe that’s why this post came out a little too strong and straightforward. But I’m happy that I can finally understand things and take control of my actions.

I appreciate you taking your time to make me realize this truth you’ve written. Thank you for that ❤ and for reading.

  5. Happiness is how I designate my life goal, but it is not in the sense of la, la, la. It is more of aiming for a deep contentment. I seek to balance all the aspects.

  6. I enjoyed reading your post and thoughts as well. Yes, I agree with you’ living with truth’ means to live with confidence to your work nd yourself . Nice 👍

  7. Beautifully written. Responsibility can be elusive if we refuse accountability. In return, we face consequences. Nonetheless, the transformation we go by stripping the ego can lead to the flowering of our spirit and thus, really taking charge of our life.

      1. Of course, I admire your deep reflections and intellectual expressions. After all, great minds think alike.

    1. I’m just glad you discovered my blog and felt a post like this was worthy enough to write a comment about. I’m happy to write words that connect with my readers, so, thanks! 😊

  8. “Keep in mind that there is nothing magical or special that happens to people who have chosen to take charge of their lives. It wasn’t any easier for them than it will be for you. It’s just that at some point, they chose to commit to taking responsibility and do the work. They chose to risk and take action. And most importantly, they chose to be true to themselves rather than being defined by fate, circumstances, or the whims of others.”

Those words were my favorite part and define my journey of hope and healing. Keep your head up, tigress (lol). Life is meant to be enjoyed. 💜

    1. Hahah, yes! ❤ I’m thankful you discovered my blog, moreover, read it and could connect with some of the words. It means a lot. Somehow my purpose as a writer is being fulfilled.

Thank you and have a happy weekend! ❤
