Change Looks Good On You

It's my close friend's birthday, and, I think this is the perfect day to share this piece.

Many around you want to point out “reality” to you. They say, “Face the facts. Look at what-is.” And we say to you if you are able to see only what-is – then, by the Law of Attraction, you will only create more of what-is… You must be able to put your thoughts beyond what-is in order to attract something different or something more. Your thoughts create your “reality.” You should learn to manifest your thoughts to shape the world around you.

You can’t just ignore or kill the very truths in your life that may or may not have been a pleasant memory. They are a part of your existence. They become a distant part of your identity. You just learn to live with it and grow more mature look toward it, or, – “change”, “adapt”, “evolve” yourself while life goes on.

A self that goes on changing is a self that goes on evolving.

I wanted to share this personal conversation between me and my friend today, (interestingly is also his birthday) who apparently went through some (mirror) situations in life as myself. To be in hope, this helps and connects with many others.

We’re both mechanical engineers. So, while we exchange video calls (he lives in Sweden), I once asked him how challenging was for him this change in his life – living and starting a completely new life in a new country – he said, “I’ll tell you a story about how I answered a fellow colleague when he asked me how and why did I change so much.”

Imitating our exact words – our conversation –

“Change in life is brought by varied circumstances. People often misinterpret these circumstances and there comes a point when you’re judged for every chance, choice, and decision you take. I recall an instance from college days when, on an exam day (Mechanical Systems Design subject to be specific), to demotivate me, a classmate came and said how rude I was and that I will never be a part of the social group and would not be accepted by anyone and could never make friends or succeed in life with this attitude. I just looked plainly in his eyes for five seconds and said that it didn’t bother me until both parties were at peace.

The thing is there will always be people who talk behind your back or spread rumors and this practicality shouldn’t mean anything or demotivate you when you have a few people to trust and love. Changing yourself simply means you adapt to the situation and come out more evolved and matured. You own yourself and realize that which cannot be changed and move forward with more sparkle in your eyes. Let them wonder how you’re still smiling.”

Now, this point got my attention. It is so true. So applicable and impactful.

Anyway, continuing…

“Are you going to remain heartbroken and let people pull you down (because when they can’t physically harm you, they often trigger emotional buttons and try to harm you – mostly succeed at it too because we become vulnerable and gullible at that time), or, are you choosing a path of upgrading yourself from every aspect?

When you choose only one option as you can see it, you don’t choose. You settle. There is always a choice. The only need is to see with clear eyes and mind.

Even the captain of the Indian Cricket Team is judged based on one failure not noticing the many efforts and struggles he put into achieving the goals. One mistake makes them forget countless givings and achievements. It’s hurtful being judged on mistakes and failures. Worst case scenarios even show your loved ones leaving you or judging you based on your failure or mistakes.

Lack of confidence is an enemy. In such situations, you have to have the courage to stand up and show the world what you’re made of – regardless the difficulty.

Changing is an easy word for spelling but reaching there is a task. “What will they say? What will they think? Am I smart enough?”, these questions should be replaced with bravery as a mask and confidence as your skin to help you put one foot forward. Let’s face it – those questions are a waste of time and energy when it comes to mental stability and emotional well being.

People will judge you no matter what, so why not stand up for yourself and start making a path to reach your goals. Discover a path, if not, make your own. But at least start the journey.

If you fail, no problem, it will solve automatically if you are dedicated enough. Honestly, the more you fail, the more creative you get to solve problems and deal with hardships. Hence, failure is necessary part to get to know your worth.

At this point too, they will try and put resistances in your path or try to hurt you emotionally by saying it’s not your cup of tea. But now, the newer upgraded version of you will accept this as a challenge and put more force in it only to succeed and be successful to show your capabilities are more than someone’s meager words.

Success is the best revenge. When you discover your niche, you hold on to it and own it and never let it go.

At the end of the day, you will have more achieved and day by day it will keep on increasing.

After every dark time, there is success waiting for you – all you need is to work hard and never give up – more importantly, have the mental readiness for it.

Once, even the most beautiful galaxies were black holes. There will ever be some opposite things happening to/with you before you enjoy the sweet release and have a pleasure of enjoying your results. Same with the blackholes who sucked everything on its way and then – Explode! – to distort time and gravity around millions of light years. Similarly, if you never give up and are strong-minded, it’ll explode into positive results and profound success distorting the mentality and thinking of people who tried to put you down.

That is how change takes place – slowly and steadily – then all at once.

Always remember, there will be judging and pointing out flaws no matter what you decide. We live in a world where artificial lemon flavor is used for welcome drinks and real lemon is used in a finger bowl. Irony! (Lol)”

Your identity is way more precious and self-screaming – you must understand and discover it before time runs away. You have this one life – every passing moment is a moment gone forever!

For you’re made of stardust and galaxies, have the courage to light those sparkles in your eyes…

Now, these were some power packed conversations (plural), I tried to write in one blog post. Insightful and empowering as it may seem, the very need is to work on it and not simply read and feel inspired.

A tiger skin with a heart of a deer, I’m happy for the milestones he has overcome in his life. I’m proud of him. As a person and as a personality.

And, if you’re reading this, as it’s your birthday, (and I can’t be there with you)

[all of you can also connect to it]

I don’t wish you all sorts of gifts. I just wish you what most people don’t have:

I wish you the time to be happy and to laugh. And if you see it, you can make something out of it. I wish you the time for your doings and your thinking. Not only for yourself but also to give away. I wish you the time – not to hassle and run, but the time to know how to be contented. I wish you the time – not to pass just like that. I wish that some of it may be left for you, as a time to marvel and (as a time) to trust, instead of just looking at the time on your watch. I wish you the time to reach for the stars, and the time to grow, that means to mature. I wish you the time to hope anew and to love. There is no sense in putting this life off. I wish you the time to find yourself, to see the happiness in each day and each hour. I wish you the time also to forgive. I wish you: the time to live.

Just in case, I’ll link his Instagram to let you all know who he is (or to wish)- Niranjan

Thank-you all for reading! Love you for that.

See you all in my next blog post. Till then, stay safe and healthy and do not be afraid to explore your inner possibilities!

  1. Aishwarya, did you write the prose “I wish you; the time…?” It is a wonderful gift indeed.
I have always wanted people to be aware of their failures, as it depicts what isn’t working.
But yet to marvel at the positive performances they do have. Successful performances instill confidence, and confidence leads to more successes. Happy Birthday Niranjansutar.

Funniest thing. If you cut and paste your first name, it underlines itself in red. When right clicking on it, its only prompt is dishwasher. And I must go fill mine now if I’m going to use dishes tonight for dinner.
    Stay blessed.

    1. Yes, it was my “virtual gift” for him.

I’m glad you loved reading this piece. Your insights on failure is truly applicable. People slowly learn.
Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts Philip. ❤ Keep smiling!

  2. So beautifully written. Please continue the journey. Liked the phrase “Lack of confidence is an enemy.” From my side, a person has to make visible change in his/her external appearance to gain confidence for the most important aspect which is INNER CHANGE. Only then the change shall remain.

    1. Yes, indeed. One must change his/her own perspective about oneself and have a positive self care and self love attitude than embarking on a journey of change.
Thank you for reading and appreciating! ❤
      I intend to continue writing.

  3. There is a classic Buddhist joke about change: What does a newspaper vendor have to answer when the Dalai Lama Buys something and asks for change?

    Change comes from within.

  4. Stand up for yourself and don’t listen to other people. One of the hardest things I’ve had to learn- and am still learning. Beautiful post! I hope your friend had a great birthday!

    1. It is a slow process but once you get a track of it, it’s one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Thank you for your wishes and for reading and appreciating! Keep smiling! 😊 ✨ ❤

  5. You write, me like.
Today i believe the most impactfull thing i produce minute to minute, everyday is a thought. A thought for me is a door to open or close. I used to live perpetually open evey thought door i would come to.
My track record proves that ken does not always at his best thinking, healthiest thinking.
It is true is need help from day to day. Never heard John Wayne say those words in a movie, a hollywood production fashioned to manipulate our thinking.
    You write, me like.

  6. Great post!
I especially like the parts where you said, “There is always a choice,” and “Success is the best revenge.”
I was just watching a you tube video this morning, and interview with Jim Caviezel (search Jim Caviezel testimony) who played the role of Jesus in the Passion movie. He said something similar to what you’re saying here: “You weren’t made to fit in, you were born to stand out.”
    I like that!

  7. It always seems
    A marvelous thing
    When out of the blue
I encounter a person like you.

Not great poetry but like you I am a mechanical engineer.

    Thanks for reading my post.

  8. That’s true the biggest challenge nowadays is not only to Learn but to learn, unlearn and relearn..that’s only possible when we are flexible enough to accept the change
