Remind Yourself Of A Little Rain

Rainstorm

You were born to be a rainstorm.
To send your voice throughout the night,
To sing your song with falling raindrops,
To break the darkness with your light.
You were born to show raw beauty,
To wash the dirt out from your eyes.
But the whole world ran for cover,
When you opened up your skies.
So you made your thunder silent,
And learned it bit your rainy tongue,
You gave them what they thought they wanted,
You gave them life with endless sun.
But as they watched their lives grow weaker,
Watched as their leaves turned brown and dry,
They wish they didn’t take for granted,
Your booming presence in the sky.
You were born to be a rainstorm
To be chaotic and bold,
To show there’s beauty in the knowledge,
That you cannot be controlled.
Because you might think you’re not needed,
Life without you is the same,
But nothing beautiful would ever grow,
If it weren’t washed with rain.

Sunshine & Rain

Life can be the sunshine,
On peaceful days with bright blue skies,
Or life can be the raindrops,
That fall like tears squeezed from your eyes.
Life can be the heaven,
That you’ll only reach through hell,
Since you won’t know that you’re happy,
If you’ve not been sad as well.
Life can teach hard lessons,
But you’ll be wiser once you know,
That even roses need both sunshine,
And a touch of rain to grow.

Thank you for reading. Love you for that!

  1. “But nothing beautiful would ever grow,/If it weren’t washed with rain.” — Loved this line. It was the perfect ending to the first poem. 🙂

  2. Amazing poems. I especially like that they deal with the theme from ‘opposite’ perspectives – addressing someone who is, or only experiences the storm

  3. I love these poems! And that is saying something because i don’t usually read poetry. :p Keep it up girl! I know that as you continue to write, your skill will continue to grow! Thank you for taking the time to write this for us to read! 🙂

  4. Favorite line: “But nothing beautiful would ever grow, / If it weren’t washed with rain.”

How true that is! Whenever it rains and I can’t go out for a walk, I remind myself that we need rain as much as sun. The same applies in the metaphorical sense that you used for life. Some people contribute the most to their neighbors through accordance with the normal flow of the world, and for them that is fantastic. However, if everyone had gone that direction, how would we have developed in technology, art, and all of the other disciplines? Some are made to break from the conventional in order to fertilize the old soil, so to speak.

Keep writing, Aishwarya, and have a blessed day.

  5. Reblogged this on Wendi Pasco-McGregor and commented:
Perfect reminder on a day when it is raining here by the sea
