Are you following me on Instagram yet? I share my life through stories and posts and would love to see you there.
Also, before we dive into this topic – I would love to let you know that I have almost completed the first assignment of my course and would share some marketing and business tips soon!
Here’s a little preview – I’ll be writing about all things SELF – i.e. becoming your absolute best self, leaving trauma behind and building confidence like a boss. My incredible business teacher taught me all things SYSTEMS and SALES. So… essentially everything you need to build your empire. I’ll make sure to incorporate these things into one blog post though. I’ll work on it over the next few weeks.
Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions! (send an email or drop a comment below)
So, let’s dive in, shall we?
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE – Okay, so it is proven that people with higher emotional intelligence are better leaders and are capable of hitting higher goals.
…so, we all know that’s where we want to be, but how exactly do we get there?
Emotional Intelligence can be measured in 5 different skills, so if you know what the skills are, you can be actively working towards them to make sure you get even better results.
This is what the pursuit of high performance is all about: finding what makes people perform better and replicating it.
The 5 skills are:
- Self Awareness :
This is knowing your own strengths, weaknesses, drives, values, and impact on others.
Being self-aware brings self-confidence – you know all areas of yourself and you accept who you are. You’re willing to conduct a very real self-assessment of yourself and your work.
- Self Regulation :
This is controlling or redirecting disruptive impulses and moods. You always want to be considering long-term consequences of any action and really push yourself to consider this before acting.
When you’re self-regulating, you’re also more likely to be able to handle change and adapt quickly without complaints.
Be the person who walks into a room with high energy and makes everyone around them feel great. You also want to be trusted and seen to have true integrity.
Be responsible, always, for the energy that you bring.
- Motivation :
This is relishing achievement for its own sake. You don’t find it hard to be motivated, you love to achieve new things and can keep yourself going.
There’s a big difference between people who are motivated to achieve and people who are motivated for external factors. When you’re motivated in a way that brings about emotional intelligence, you’re very optimistic even in the face of failure and are always looking for new ways to learn.
- Empathy :
Empathy is understanding other people’s emotional makeup. We’re all so incredibly different, you need to be compassionate and understanding when dealing with someone who processes emotions differently to you. Here, you want to limit judgment and boost empathy.
Strengths in empathy really show when you’re working directly with employees, clients, and customers. How happy are they? How excited and motivated are they to produce results for you?
If they aren’t, the question is what can you do to change this?
- Social Skills
Having good social skills means you’re able to manage relationships and build strong networks. To do this, you’re always able to find common ground with people, you’re persuasive and have real expertise on how people work.
You’re not the type of person who talks about themselves constantly or is always asking for favors, instead, you listen and you give. This builds you a really loyal network that you know you can depend on.
So, my challenge for you this weekend is to dive into this and see where you can strengthen your emotional intelligence.
To achieve great things, you need to act great.
I don’t know about you but I’m willing to do whatever it takes.
