Human beings, except when they are children, always have a choice. That is free will, something that we are all born with. A child may not have the awareness or consciousness to make choices and might do things by instinct. But once we reach a particular level of awareness, understanding, and cognition, once we realize how the world functions, we become aware of right and wrong, good and bad, false and true, and then, we always have a choice. And this choice can never be taken away from us. It is only our own beliefs, our conditioning, our wisdom, our maturity, our fears, our anxieties, our worries etc. that result in us making one choice over the other. Otherwise, as the Holocaust survivor, Viktor Frankl said –

“Even in captivity, the ultimate freedom to choose one thought over another, can never ever be taken away from us”

Since the Universe we live in is a vibrational one, where energy and vibrations determine how things flow, we need to be very careful what vibrations we are emitting. Our energy signature is eventually what determines whether we attract good or bad, pain or pleasure, health or suffering, poverty or richness, and happiness or sorrow. Since we all have a choice, if we were to make a conscious choice every day in the morning that we are going to be happy today, come what may, this intention to be happy gets imprinted into our subconscious matter, like an installed software.

Since we have clearly given an intention and indication to our subconscious mind and to the Universe that we want to be happy, both these align together, understand our intentions, and bring us what we have asked for, namely–happiness. Events, situations, and people are arranged and managed in such a way that it brings us happiness. Conversely, when we get up in the morning and feel miserable about something, feel unhappy or dissatisfied, when we don’t put any clear intention or indication, whatever is our basic emotional state gets imprinted into our subconsciousness, and that becomes our point of vibration or energy signature.

Since we tend to be in a negative frame of mind than a positive one, more often than not, since our demands or desires are much more than our levels of acceptance, since we are mostly dissatisfied with the NOW, and want something else, our vibrations range mostly from neutral to negative. We have spikes of positivity, but these are short-lived, quickly adapted to or taken for granted, and we go back to our whining, complaining, judging, criticizing, dissatisfied state very soon. And this negative energy signature we carry bring us more negative people, incidents and occurrences.

When we don’t put a clear-cut intention for joy or happiness, it is almost like telling our subconscious, and through it, the Universe, that we want to be unhappy, we want to suffer, we want to cry and whine and feel victimized. The subconscious and the Universe are mirrors and they reflect back what they receive (something that my father says.) And life brings us more and more situations which make us unhappy, make us suffer, make us cry, because, unknown to ourselves, that is what we have asked for.

Starting today, make an intention to be happy, and see how that simple intention translates into more fulfillment, more purpose, more joy, more happiness. It is both easy and tough to do this and needs daily awareness. And, to intend to be happy is not a crime, in fact, it is our birthright and is also our basic state.

    1. Funny enough, the link stayed back in my spam folder lol
I’ll check it out. Thank you for sharing! 😊😊

      1. I suppose that makes sense; I’m sure links in comments are 9/10 times spam.

It’s long winded, but worth it at the end.
It’s an old Alan Watts TV segment (hilarious, not sure of the date). It’s about differences between science and Buddhism. He uses some optical illusions to show we see in things what we associate with them so we don’t see things clearly, and we can only see one side of things at one time.
Good, bad, right, wrong; it can be subjective at times, but looking at them a certain way is a choice.
If you want to see the bad in things, you’ll see them. Good, you’ll see the good.

It’s 30 minutes long; that may save time. lol

  1. Again, I like your art. You could “draw out” the connection between your art and your writing. Here, for example, the intent to fly being as fragile as a piece of paper yet casting a shadow of a much more powerful force than mere paper. The intent for happiness being small as in coming from one being only, yet having the force of being able to carry many beings to happiness. 🙂

  2. Dear Aishwarya, you speak directly from heart, so your words are indeed heart-touching. Your sketches are really beautiful — they tell stories by themselves. Please keep expressing yourself. Thank you for reading my posts and inspiring to write more.
