11 Life Rules You Don’t Learn At Any Educational Institution

11 Life Rules You Don’t Learn At Any Educational Institution

Have you ever wondered about our educational system and why it's so tedious and outdated? I mean, it keeps teaching about the same syllabus it taught our grandparents and the people before them. School is a valuable experience for sure for about the first 5 or so years. Once you learn how to read, write and do basic math, you’ve learned 80% of what you need to go out and create your life on your terms. It’s cliche at this point to say that the most important things you learn in life you don’t learn in school. I know in my life, the most important things I’ve learned I had to figure out on my own as an adult. It might look like high school and college are separated by only a few, short, glorious summer months, but the reality is very different. The two are worlds apart! There are so many valuable things that you learn almost immediately after going through the college gates that it’s remarkable. Obvious things that you would never have even considered back in school. And still, even the college falls short about teaching valuable life skills and survival tactics which can be applied in the real world.

30 Power Statements To Guide You Through Life

30 Power Statements To Guide You Through Life

The other day, I was thinking about the type of impact I want to leave on people's minds - knowingly and unknowingly. I imagined a random person having a conversation and saying ‘I remember her as…………..’, or ‘She says that……..’. But what did I want those blanks to say? It’s something I’ve never pondered before. So, I sat down and started to write and what emerged was this list of 30 power statements. I liked it so much that I wanted to share it with you, in the hopes that it inspires you to stop, go inward, search your soul, and create your own. You can use mine as inspiration, and once you have your own list, please share it with me in the comments below. I would love to read it!

Why You Should Give Yourself Permission To Fail In 2020

Why You Should Give Yourself Permission To Fail In 2020

It’s the perfect time of year to redefine “failure.” With all that is going on around us with global issues, losing jobs + family stress + a thousand things to manage + worrying about uncertain future effects + mental health + professional and personal growth; being in a constant state of anxiety and stress is the last thing we need right now. Everyone, you and me, is experiencing some sort of 'failure' in each ones' capacity and/or standards. We need to remember that we are trying our best and most importantly - we're in this together! You're not alone. The certain norms of failure need to be addressed and redefined with one thing in mind - it does get better. Have patience and practice gratitude. Embrace failure and count it as a stepping stone to a bright tomorrow because no phase is permanent. This too shall pass. But honestly, though, I'm over it. I'm tired of listening to everybody say they've failed or they can't see a better tomorrow so they'll just wait around for some fairy godmother to make things right. Why can't you do something right now to better your tomorrow? Obviously you aren't going to go research a vaccine to fight for this virus that's killing the world around, unless you're a scientist or medical professional, so leave that to the pros. What you can do is - to work on yourself and improve yourself so that when this is over, you'll have a better chance of making everything okay. Don't you see it? People were so used to the mundane, routine, monotonous, and machine-like regular scheduled life that they completely forgot how it would be otherwise. History is proof that we need to prepare for the worst and in such situations, know that there is only so much that we can do - focus, improve and grow ourselves individually so that when the negative is over, we all rise together. Every drop of water makes the ocean. And that is why we need to redefine our meaning of failure.

Reading Books Has Made Me Feel Less Busy!

Reading Books Has Made Me Feel Less Busy!

A little side note - I know I'm a little late for World Book Day, and I just realized a few hours ago that I've never written anything about books, writing, or publishing even though I preach about it across my entire blog!!! Whooosh...I know it's crazy. So today, here I am creating an entire category dedicated to the same. You'll hear a lot more from me on this - tips, the who's, why's and how's, book recommendations and reviews, and all the important details. And hey! Happy World Book Day! Six months ago, I found myself drowning in a flood of easy information. The internet—and all the lovely things on it, things like Wikipedia, Twitter, podcasts, the New Yorker, email, TED Talks, Facebook, Youtube, Buzzfeed occasionally, and yes, even the World News—provide unlimited sources of delight at the touch of a finger. The delight, indeed, abounds. But it’s not always delightful. It comes with some suffering too. I was distracted when at work, distracted when with family and friends, constantly tired, irritable, and always swimming against a wash of ambient stress induced by my constant itch for digital information. My stress had an electronic feel to it, as if it was made up of the very bits and bytes on my screens. And I was exhausted.

Do you believe that goodwill prevails?

Do you believe that goodwill prevails?

A little goodwill goes a long way to impact not just the life of an individual, but also that of the community, nation and the entire world! Of all the investments I have made in life, the only one that keeps coming back to me manifold is that of goodwill and kindness. An innate sense of courtesy and kindness has always been appreciated and remembered by people for years to come. And, it has invariably come back to me in some form or the other. If I were to ask anyone to believe just one thing with their eyes closed, then this is it – goodwill is the only guarantee that holds you in good stead all through life!
